René Desmarais

René Desmarais is Senior Vice-President, Parcels.

Mr. Desmarais joined Canada Post in June 2012 and is responsible for ensuring growth in the Parcels sector by developing new strategies to increase profitability and maintain a competitive service with a focus on e-commerce.

With a dynamic career in the retail and packaged goods industry, Mr. Desmarais brings to Canada Post extensive procurement knowledge of distribution and online retail services.

Prior to assuming his current position at Canada Post, Mr. Desmarais spent four years as President and CEO of Yves Rocher, North America, where he implemented the company’s new brand positioning, reduced cost structures and increased consumer relationships in retail, mail-order and online services.

Mr. Desmarais also previously held senior executive positions with JMF Transport, Astral Media Outdoor, Publicis Canada, CFCF (CTV Network Montreal), J.M. Smucker Company and Yoplait Yogurt.

Mr. Desmarais earned his MBA from Laval University and holds a BBA in marketing from Université de Sherbrooke.

Originally from Sherbrooke, Que., Mr. Desmarais is married with two daughters.
