Newsroom - Letters to the Editor

February 5, 2007

(Letter sent to the editor of tamilnet.com)

Dear Editor:

The January 30th web article, "Canadian Memorial Stamp issued for late Navaratnam" is incorrect.

Canada Post did not issue a set of Canadian Memorial Stamps nor did we issue First Day Covers honouring the late Mr. Navaratnam.

In this case, a stamp was created using the services of Picture Postage™ (a personal postage program for consumers to create their own custom postage). It is not part of the official Canada Post stamp program.

Canada Post takes great pride in its Stamp Program. A national Stamp Advisory Committee evaluates suggestions and a full intensive program is developed annually. The stamps issued under the program appeal to the broad segments of the Canadian population, relate primarily to Canada and enhance the high regard for Canadian stamps in international philatelic circles.

I would appreciate that the web article be corrected to reflect the two inaccuracies.

Sincerely,

Nicole Lemire
