Chocolate lovers... this one's for you
Imagine a delectable, out of this world, silky smooth, melt in your mouth Purdy's chocolate! That's the featured image on a Canada Post commemorative envelope. The envelope will be unveiled at Purdy's Chocolates 100-year gala celebration on February 8, at Vancouver's Telus World of Science and will be available at select post offices as of today.

Richard Carmon Purdy opened his first chocolate shop in Vancouver in 1907. His reputation for superb chocolates grew, earning him the respect of chocolate lovers throughout Vancouver and beyond. Purdy's has since grown to 50 stores. "Since 1907, the one thing that has remained constant at Purdy's is our commitment to quality and tradition," said president and owner Karen Flavelle. "Purdy's rich history, scrumptious taste, and years of experience all come together to make each Purdy's moment an unforgettable one."

In honour of their centennial celebration, ten thousand commemorative envelopes featuring an image of Purdy's assortment box - an ode to this chocolate maker's claim to fame - will be printed. The pre-printed stamp image is a chocolate wrapped in foil with Purdy's logo embedded in it. A whimsical illustration of three Purdy's chocolatiers stirring a fresh batch of chocolate are portrayed on the envelope's cancel. Canada Post graphic designer, Katie Deering said, "I had my work cut out for me on this one, but the hardest thing was not eating the chocolates."
