Mission Accomplished! Harry Potter fans receive special Canada Post delivery!

July 23, 2007

Some 80,000 Harry Potter fans across Canada are in receipt of their pre-ordered copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, thanks to Canada Post's special delivery.

More than 700 Canada Post employees were on the streets in 36 cities across the country Saturday, delivering copies of what is destined to be Canada's best-selling book of all time. Online customers of amazon.ca and chapters.indigo.ca were delighted to be part of this special Saturday delivery. Canada Post will deliver an additional 20,000 copies of the book over the next week.

"It was a really cool day for me," said Toronto's Mike Brok, one of the Canada Post employees involved in delivering the books. "It was fun to see customers waiting at the door for me. And the kids, well I could hear the excitement as soon as they knew their Harry Potter book had arrived. I really did feel like a wizard of delivery!"

Saturday's delivery was completed with a 99.9 per cent success rate. "This was a true team effort right across the country, with delivery employees, supervisors, Area Performance Centre officers and other core team members all working together to move these important parcels into the hands of expectant Muggles across the country," said Louis O'Brien, president of the Parcels Division at Canada Post.

Canada Post has been working closely with chapters.indigo.ca and amazon.ca, to meet their delivery needs, a task made easier by Canada Post's wide range of services and unmatched delivery network. Canadian businesses are demanding more, like customized delivery plans, and Canada Post is meeting the challenge. "Business needs Canada Post to be flexible and adaptable and this successful special delivery is a perfect example of how Canada Post, the modern post, is developing a business model that our business partners can depend on," O'Brien added. "Our employees should be proud of their work this weekend," O'Brien noted.
