What is presortation and bar code recognition software?

How does Canada Post recognize third-party address and bar code recognition software?

Our Software Evaluation and Recognition Program (SERP) evaluates the accuracy of these software programs, and those that meet our specifications are recognized in a regularly updated list.

How does bar code recognition benefit me?

The barcode recognition technology we have implemented helps you better track your mail items from the production to destination processing points. Addressed Admail Letter Carrier Presort mailers are able to access information about their mailings through our Online Business Centre.

To get started:

  • Purchase presortation software from a SERP-recognized commercial vendor.
  • Employ a mail service provider (MSP) that uses SERP-recognized software.
  • Develop in-house software and have it evaluated for SERP recognition.

Using presortation software helps us deliver your mail more efficiently and reduces emissions associated with the delivery process.
