Transportation time – number of business days to move your mail from the Canada Post facility where you dropped it off to the delivery office. Transportation time is not required if you drop off your mail at the same office that will be delivering it.

Basic fee – applies when you send standard-size Unaddressed Admail pieces to residences (houses, apartments and farms).

Premium fee – when you choose to do any of the following:

• Send to businesses – delivering to a place where the primary activity is commercial, industrial or institutional.
• Send samples – trial-size portions of an actual product.
• Send other promotional items/merchandise (e.g. pens or any non-printed matter).
• Send oversize items.
• Specify the delivery start date.

High Demand Route Premium – As a result of the overall decline in volume, the High Demand Route (HDR) premium (1.5 cents) within Unaddressed Admail™ will be eliminated as of January 14, 2013. There may continue to be references to High Demand Routes within the Electronic Shipping Tools (EST) and Precision Targeter, however the routes will no longer be visually displayed and the premium will not be applied.

Discounts and savings

10% Seasonality Discount - applies to Unaddressed Admail mailings as follows:

• to the combined base postage price and progressive weight price
• deposited during the months of January, February, June, July, August and December
• when using the new Precision Targeter application or EST (excluding SOM Only) to create your Order.
• The 10% Seasonality Discount does not apply to SOM Only Orders, manual Statements of Mailing, Transportation Fees or the High Demand Route Premium.

1% Electronic Shipping Tools Discount

• Receive a 1% discount on your mailing when you complete your entire order electronically using our Electronic Shipping Tools. Please note that manual orders may be subject to a $5 processing fee.
• Save on transportation fees when you drop off your mail directly at the local delivery office where your mailing will be delivered from. If you drop off your mailing at a Canada Post facility and we have to transport your mailing to the delivery office, an additional fee per piece applies.

Volume-based pricing

• If you plan to send 100,000 pieces or more within the next 12 months, you may be eligible for a volume discount.* You can deliver all of the pieces at once or over a number of smaller campaigns throughout the year.

Bundling your mail

1. Determine how many pieces are needed for each delivery office using our Residential and Business Counts and Maps.
   
   
2. Sort your mail into bundles
   
   1. For Letter Carrier delivery, sort your mail into bundles of 200:
      • Each bundle must be less than 100 mm (4") thick.
      • If your bundle of 200 is too thick, reduce the number of pieces in each bundle to 50 or 100 (remember not to exceed the maximum thickness).
   
   2. For mail delivered to routes that are not served by Letter Carriers, sort your mail as follows:
      • When your items weigh less than 500 g each, you should prepare 100 mm (4”) thick bundles.
      • When your items weigh 500 g or more each, you should prepare 200 mm (8”) thick bundles.

      Remember that the maximum number of items for all bundles is 200.

   3. All the bundles for a single delivery office should contain an equal number of pieces—except the last bundle (called "residue" bundle), which will make up the remainder of the quantity you need for that delivery office. For example:

3. Securely double-strap each bundle to prevent it from breaking open during handling or transit. You can use elastic bands, string, or plastic straps, but shrink-wrapping is not allowed. Keep track of which bundle is the "residue" bundle.
   
   Placing your mail in containers
   
   
4. After you've bundled your mail, put it into suitable mail containers for delivery. An acceptable container is:
   • Sturdy and able to withstand normal handling during processing (sorting with other containers, transporting, opening, emptying, etc.).
   • Fully sealed on all sides.
   • Have dimensions that do not exceed 535 mm (length) x 251 mm (width) x 303 mm (depth).
   • Less than 22.7 kg (50 lb.) in weight.
   • Disposable, as we cannot return it to you.
   
   The boxes your printers use when they package your order are often suitable containers. Other options may be file storage or moving boxes. The containers don't have to be new—just sturdy (and fully sealed). Containers you supply need to be approved by us.
   
   

You can use Unaddressed Admail Flexipacks™ when you drop off your mail directly at the delivery office—when transportation fees do not apply.

Note: You need to provide a sample of the piece being mailed on or before time of drop-off. If you are testing multiple versions, with different sizes or weights, you need to provide a sample of each.

If you prefer, you can complete your paperwork manually. However, this means that you may incur a $5 manual processing fee, plus you’ll miss out on the 1% discount applied to electronic orders.

1. Ensure you have a Canada Post Customer Number.
2. Pay for the mailing in full, including all applicable taxes. See How to pay for your mailing for payment options.
3. Get your Unaddressed Admail Delivery Slip endorsed by Canada Post. This endorsement validates payment for orders prepared and submitted manually or orders submitted using the SOM-only version of EST.

Where To Drop Off Your Mail

Drop off your mail at one of the following types of Canada Post locations. Each has different hours of operation, customer environments and payment options.

• Corporate Post Offices – These locations are usually managed directly by Canada Post.
  Note: You cannot drop off your Unaddressed Admail at "authorized dealer" postal outlets. These are usually located in retail environments like pharmacies, gift shops, or shopping malls.
• Letter Carrier Depots – Typically found in urban settings, these are where letter carriers receive and sort mail before beginning delivery to their route. These facilities do not serve the general public. If you have a large number of containers, you may want to ask about a shipping dock or other vehicle-accessible area where you can deposit your mail. Letter Carrier Depots cannot accept payment.
• Revenue Verification Units (RVU) – Large mail processing facilities designed for commercial mailers.

If you have multiple delivery offices, you can either:

• Drop-off your mailing (properly bundled, labelled, and in approved containers) at a single delivery office and pay an additional fee for us to transport it to the actual delivery office(s) for you.
• Take your mailing to each delivery office yourself. In this case, transportation fees will not apply.

You may deposit your mailing during regular business hours for that location on the business day before the specified delivery start date. Mailings cannot be deposited earlier than 72 hours (3 business days) before the delivery start date.
To a drop-off location for Canada Post to transport (regionally or nationally) directly to the delivery office.	The date the mailing can be deposited is determined by the number of business days required by Canada Post Delivery Standards to meet the delivery start date.

Note: For all services, deposits on weekends and statutory holidays are considered as being deposited on the next business day.

The delivery start date indicated on your order (Statement of Mailing) will be adjusted for all mailings dropped off earlier or later than the required times indicated above.
