Question: How does the Canada Post passport service work?
Scenario
- You need to apply for a passport and have heard that Canada Post can process the application for you.
- You have applied for your passport through Canada Post but have not heard back yet.
Solution:
Designated Post Offices across the country can act as receiving agents for passport applications. At these locations, we will review your application and supporting documentation and accept payment for your application. We then send these to Passport Canada on your behalf for processing. This service ensures that no incomplete documentation or errors will delay the process.
The service is $20 for the verification and mailing cost (in addition to passport fees). Passport Canada will process the application and mail your passport to you using Canada Post. For more information on the cost, timing and any other passport questions please visit the Passport Canada website.
Not all Post Offices can act as receiving agents. Find the closest service location to you.
