The science of agriculture
When most people think of a college of agriculture, they think about students learning about farming. But agriculture is about more than producing food and rearing animals on a farm, and Macdonald College is more than just a college of agriculture. Macdonald College is a world leader when it comes to helping students to learn about the science of plants and animals, nutrition and dietetics, and food and soil. Students also learn about engineering, water management, microbiology and environmental management. And all of these are important topics when it comes to improving farming methods, conserving precious resources and inventing new farming tools.
On September 26, 2006, Canada Post celebrated the 100-year anniversary of the founding of Macdonald College with a single domestic rate stamp.
Students at Macdonald College can earn internationally recognized degrees in many disciplines, including natural sciences, environment, agriculture, food, applied economics and engineering. Students also have the opportunity to study abroad in places like Panama, Barbados and Africa, where they can put the skills and knowledge they’ve gained while studying at Macdonald College to good use. |
