What Is An Air Stage Office?

  to top of page

An Air Stage Office is a Post Office to or from which all mail must be airlifted for more than six (6) months of every year as a viable surface transportation alternative is not available. These offices are generally confined to remote or isolated communities.

NOTE:
An office designated an Air Stage Office is deemed to be Air Stage for the whole year.

Customers shipping packages may ship to or from Air Stage Offices using Priority™ Next A.M., Xpresspost, Expedited Parcel (contract Customers only) and Regular Parcel at the regular prices for the service chosen.

However, Expedited Parcel prices apply when any Customer* using Regular Parcel and shipping to or from one or several Air Stage Offices send:

  • more than 5 parcels, or more than 20 kilograms of parcels on any day; or
  • more than 20 parcels, or more than 80 kilograms of parcels in any month.
*
Customer (whether a business or an individual)

Exceptions:

  • parcels sent within the same postal code;
  • parcels sent within the same FSA (Forward Sortation Area).

These prices take into account the costs of transporting shipments in the North that are not presently reflected in Counter prices. Visit canadapost.ca/prices under Rate Codes and Rate Zones for a list of Air Stage Offices.
