What defines a Canadian website?
For this competition, a Canadian website:
- serves Canadian customers;
- sells products that meet Canadian consumer standards (i.e. approved by the Canadian Standards Association [CSA]);
- allows customers to shop in Canadian dollars;
- accounts for customs requirements (e.g. charges, documentation) if product is being shipped from outside Canada;
- may have a .ca domain; and
- follows Canadian privacy standards with regard to any data collected from customers using the website.
When is my entry due?
All entries must be submitted by Friday, May 31, 2019 at 11:59:59 p.m. ET.
Is there a cost to enter?
No, it is free to apply and you can apply for up to two awards.
My company does not ship with Canada Post. Can I still apply for an award?
You do not have to be a Canada Post customer to apply, to be eligible for, or to win, a Canada Post E-commerce Innovation Award.
However, the shipping and direct marketing prizes are in the form of sales credit and the winner must become a Canada Post customer to receive and use the prize.
How are entries evaluated?
After an initial review by an internal Canada Post Pre-screening Committee to ensure an application meets the established criteria, qualified applicants will be notified (around June 3, 2019) that they have been screened in for Step 2. They will be asked to complete a detailed application and provided additional supporting information for the second step of the application process.
Detailed applications, will first be reviewed by the internal Canada Post Pre-screening committee against award criteria and then reviewed by an expert panel of judges, who are retail and e-commerce industry experts from reputable companies.
The judges will review entries against the criteria outlined in each category to select the finalists. The finalists will be announced around August 7, 2019. From the finalists, the judges will select the winners.
Winners will be announced at the Awards evening on September 19, 2019.
When and how will I be notified about the status of my entry?
Applicants will be notified by email that their entry has been received and is complete upon submission. If selected, applicants will be notified by email if they will proceed to Step 2 of the application process around June 3, 2019. Furthermore, if applicants are selected as finalists, they will be notified by phone and receive an email around August 7, 2019. Applicants will not know if they are a winner until the announcement at the Awards evening on September 19, 2019.

How many entries may I submit?
Companies may apply for up to two awards in Step 1 of the process; however, they will only be selected to proceed in one category beginning in Step 2 of the application process. This does not include the Canada Post E-commerce Innovator’s Award.
What language may I submit my entry in?
You may submit your entry in English or in French.
Can a company win more than one award?
No, a company cannot win more than one award. The only exception is if they are the recipient of the Canada Post E-commerce Innovator’s Award.
If my company is a finalist how many people may attend the awards evening?
If you are a finalist, you will receive two tickets to the awards evening. Prior to the awards evening, you may be able to obtain additional tickets, but they are limited.
Will the information I submit about my company remain confidential?
Canada Post will attempt to use non confidential information when announcing, promoting and awarding a prize to finalists and winners.
If Canada Post decides that confidential information would be relevant or necessary for the announcement, promotion and awarding of prizes of finalists and winners, Canada Post will seek consent from an authorized representative of the entrant to use the confidential information for the limited purpose of the Canada Post E-commerce Innovation Awards.

Will Canada Post do any marketing of a company’s brand without permission?
As part of your submission, you will be providing Canada Post the right to use your logo, company name and location when we announce the finalists (should your company be a finalist). This announcement will include the use of your company name, location and logo on our website, on social media, in a news release and as part of our promotional efforts when announcing the finalists.
As well, you will be asked to provide a contact name so that Canada Post can request your company’s review of advertising and promotional materials referencing or using your company name, any marks or any other intellectual property of your company, outside of announcing the finalist. If you do not respond to the request within three business days, you will be deemed to have accepted the request and Canada Post will proceed to use the advertising and promotional materials referenced in the request during the term.
Please ensure the contact person information provided on your application is current, and that the person is available and able to make decisions on behalf of your company. The names of applicants will not be shared with anyone.
