    How money transfers work

    Transfer money

    1. Get an estimate
      Use the MoneyGram cost estimator to find out how much your money transfer will cost. 
    2. Start your money transfer at the post office or online
      Find a post office near you
      to complete the entire transaction. You can also start the transaction online by filling out the form on the MoneyGram website beforehand. You also have the option of sending money online directly through MoneyGram.
    3. Pay by cash or debit card
      Present the barcode that’s created when you fill out the forms online when you get to the post office and pay by cash or debit card. Pay for online transfers with a debit card. Please note that you can’t pay with a credit card.
    4. Get your MoneyGram reference number
      Give your MoneyGram reference number to the person receiving the money.

    1. Prepare your account information
      Have your bill information ready.
    2. Go to the post office
      Find a post office near you.
    3. Choose the payment service
      Your options are same-day bill payment or next-day bill payment.
    4. Receive your proof of payment
      Keep your receipt for your records as proof that you paid your bill.
