This photo, called Wait for Me Daddy, is one of the most famous Canadian photos from the Second World War. It captures the raw emotion of a little boy reaching for one more moment with his father, who is marching off to war. The photo, taken October 1, 1940 in New Westminster, BC, came to symbolize the sacrifices families made for the war effort. This stamp issue coincides with the unveiling of a statue in New Westminster on October 4, 2014, to honour the photo.

This convenient booklet of 10 Permanent™ domestic stamps is always worth the going rate. The stamps make an interesting conversation piece on mail to history buffs or collectors of Canadiana.
