Pay tribute to some of Canada’s most successful women’s winter sports stars with this booklet of 10 Permanent™ domestic stamps

The booklet contains five pairs of stamps honoring Canadian women who specialize in winter disciplines. The featured athletes are cross-country skiers Sharon and Shirley Firth, wheelchair curler Sonja Gaudet, Hockey Hall of Famer Danielle Goyette, alpine skier Nancy Greene and speed skater Clara Hughes.

Twins Sharon and Shirley Firth were among the first indigenous athletes to represent Canada at the Olympic Winter Games, competing at four consecutive Olympics between 1972 and 1984. The world’s most decorated wheelchair curler, Gaudet is a three-time Olympic gold medalist and three-time world champion. Goyette won Olympic gold twice, and also claimed eight world championship crowns. Greene won Canada’s first-ever gold medal in giant slalom at the 1968 Olympic Winter Games. Hughes, who is also a successful cyclist, is the only Olympian in history to have won multiple medals at both the Winter and Summer Games.
