I wish to sincerely thank Arbitrator Flynn for providing resolution to the pay equity issue with her thoughtful and detailed ruling. This is an incredibly important ruling for our rural and suburban carriers. Pay equity is a basic human right and therefore pay disparity on the basis of gender is wholly unacceptable for Canada Post.

We will move quickly to implement the pay and benefits changes for employees. To achieve that, we have already agreed to a joint process with the Canadian Union of Postal Workers to manage the implementation.

Negotiations towards a new collective agreement are ongoing and we remain positive on the progress being made.

A detailed review of the ruling is under way and, as promised, we will disclose the complete financial impact in our third-quarter results.
