Important details about the outage

Canada Post will be shutting down its website, canadapost.ca, and its web services and mobile app from Friday, August 21 at 9 p.m. Eastern Time (ET) to Sunday, August 23 at 7 p.m. ET as we complete an important upgrade of our IT infrastructure.

This shutdown will impact all of Canada Post's online and retail IT systems. The website and related services will not be available for any transactions during this time.

Canada Post understands this outage will disrupt your ability to conduct business during that weekend. We apologize in advance and thank you for your patience and understanding.

This large-scale effort will improve the stability, security and capacity of our platform. This work is critical to our ongoing efforts to support the growing 24/7 digital expectations of our customers.

Below are more details about the impacts of the outage and what we advise you do if you are a:

Commercial customer who uses third-party or customer-developed shipping systems

  • You will still be able to conduct business. Your orders will be queued up until the systems are up and running on Sunday, August 23 at 7 p.m. ET. During the outage, we will continue to operate in our plants as usual.
  • Unfortunately, your customers will not be able to track parcels and packages during this outage.
  • Canada Post will work with you to advise your customers about this outage.

Direct marketing or transaction mail commercial customer using EST 2.0 Desktop

  • During this outage, EST will not be available. You will not be able to create or process orders or track your mailings.
  • If you have prepared your order prior to the outage, you will be able to induct your mail items at non-retail facilities that are normally open during the weekend.
  • Please consider preparing and transmitting your Statements of Mailing (SOM) no later than Friday, August 21 at noon ET to avoid any disruption.
  • Canada Post will also work with you to advise your customers about this outage.

Parcel services commercial customer using EST 2.0 Desktop

  • During this outage, EST 2.0 will not be available.
  • Customers using EST 2.0 in Local mode will be able to create labels with limited functionality.
  • Customers generating labels offline are reminded to transmit their order once the system is back up and running on Sunday, August 23 at 7 p.m.
  • Unfortunately, your customers will not be able to track parcels and packages during this outage.
  • During the outage, you can prepare labels and induct packages with a manual manifest or manual bill of lading.
  • Please provide the following service ticket number to the induction location or the driver pickup agent: 1195682
  • Please consider preparing and transmitting your parcels no later than Friday, August 21 at noon ET to avoid any disruption.
  • Canada Post will work with you to advise your customers about this outage.

Customer using EST Online or Express Order Entry (EOE), including secure solution

  • You will not be able to access EST Online or EOE during this outage.
  • Unfortunately, your customers will not be able to track parcels and packages during this outage.
  • We encourage you to consider preparing and transmitting your shipments no later than Friday, August 21 at noon ET.
  • Canada Post will work with you to advise your customers about this outage.

Web services user (including platforms)

  • Canada Post's web services will not be available during this outage.
  • We encourage you to consider preparing, transmitting and inducting parcels no later than Friday, August 21 at noon ET to avoid any disruption.
  • Canada Post will work with you to advise your customers about this outage.

Customer using Solutions for Small Business

  • Canada Post's online services will not be available during this outage.
  • This outage will impact all online transactions, such as tracking a parcel, finding a postal code, finding a post office and the Canada Post online store.
  • This outage will also impact our ability to serve customers at post offices.
  • We encourage you to consider preparing, transmitting and inducting your items no later than Friday, August 21 at noon ET.
  • Canada Post will work with you to advise your customers about this outage.

Mail Forwarding or Hold Mail customer

  • If you purchased the Mail Forwarding service online, and your next step is to use your barcode to verify your identity or place of residence at the post office, you will need to complete the process before Friday, August 21 at 9 p.m. Eastern or wait until after Sunday, August 23 at 7 p.m. Eastern.
  • If you have an existing Mail Forwarding or Hold Mail service and you would like to extend it, you can do so at the post office over the weekend, or online after Sunday, August 23 at 7 p.m. Eastern.
  • New services can be purchased at post offices but not online until after Sunday, August 23 at 7 p.m.

  • You can continue to use epost although you will not be able to reset your password, recover your username, create a new epost profile or make a Vault payment.
