Ongoing talks

All efforts remain focused on reaching an agreement. Negotiations are ongoing between Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW).

Conciliation process concludes

While the conciliation process has now concluded, talks continue with the assistance of a mediator. Our goal remains to reach negotiated settlements and we continue to work toward that goal. We understand that until agreements are reached, uncertainty will remain.

As talks continue, the union is now able to issue a 72-hour notice of a legal job action if they choose to do so. As part of the process outlined in the Canada Labour Code, any legal job action requires the filing of a 72-hour notice. At this point we have no indication that a legal job action will occur and our network is fully operational.

If we reach a point where the union decides to issue a 72-hour notice, a notice would be posted on this site as soon as possible regardless of time of day. If the union decides to conduct a legal rotating job action, Canada Post would remain committed to negotiating and we would continue to operate. Any further details required to help you understand any short-term, localized impacts to our operations would be communicated through this site as well.
