Tips for installing EST 2.0 updates

Several times a year we release updates to our EST 2.0 shipping software. You will be prompted to install the updates when you launch EST 2.0 from your desktop. Below are some tips for ensuring successful updates.

Issue

You are unable to download the EST update file

Solution

Enable administrator privileges on your computer

Instructions

You may need administrative privileges on your computer to download files. Please contact the technical support staff at your company for help. Inform them you will need to download and install several updates a year. These updates will be released immediately after scheduled outages. Please plan accordingly to avoid any interruptions to your business.

Issue

Your EST update will not install. You receive an error during installation.

Solution 1

Run as administrator (applies to computers with Windows Vista or higher operating systems).

Instructions

  • Locate the EST update file that you downloaded.
  • Right-click the EST update file and select Run as administrator.

Your EST update should install successfully. If it does not, see Uninstall and re-install EST 2.0 below.

Your EST update will not install. You receive an error during installation.

Solution 2

Uninstall and re-install EST 2.0

Instructions

Warning: Before attempting this solution, please be aware of the following:

  • We recommend this solution only if you have a simple single-user setup. If you have multiple EST 2.0 users on a network please do not attempt this without first seeking the advice of our technical helpdesk at 1-866-511-0546.
  • Uninstalling EST 2.0 and re-installing it will erase your settings and delete the contents of your address book. Please back up your address book in a location outside of the EST directory, such as in My Documents.
  • If you are using a proxy server, save the server information.
  • If you are using a scale, save your settings.

To uninstall EST 2.0
From your control panel, uninstall EST 2.0. If you need help, ask the technical support staff at your company or contact the EST 2.0 Helpdesk.

To re-install EST 2.0
Depending on your network setup, you may need to temporarily disable anti-virus setting or firewall settings to perform this installation. Please contact the technical support staff at your company for help before proceeding.

  1. Download EST 2.0.
  2. Follow the prompts to install the software.
  3. Open EST 2.0 and re-configure your printer settings.
  4. If applicable, import your address book and configure your scale settings.

Periodic outages allow us to perform upgrades and maintenance to keep your shipping tools running smoothly. You'll receive further details when you sign in to your shipping tool a few days before the outage.

Reminder! You will need to install an upgrade to your EST 2.0 desktop following all scheduled outages in order to continue to use this shipping system. If you require an administrator to provide access in order to perform an upgrade please consult the scheduled outage dates above to plan these activities to avoid any interruptions to your business.
