Why don’t all postal Money Orders look the same?

Most postal Money Orders at Canada Post are automated documents that are either peach or green. The colour indicates the type of money that will be issued when the order is cashed.

  • Peach: Canadian dollars
  • Green: U.S. dollars

Note: Regardless of the colour, Money Orders are paid out according to the currency indicated on the order. Please verify the type of currency that is listed.

The only copy of a postal Money Order is the document that can be cashed. As such, your sales receipt is your proof of purchase and contains all relevant information about the order. Keep your receipt as you will need it if you have any questions about your postal Money Order.

Non-automated postal Money Orders

A small number of post offices are not automated. These offices issue the old-style 3-part postal Money Orders.
